Artist Statement: Altered Vessels
As vessels have historically been seen as metaphors for the human body, I utilized this format to create sculptural containers conveying themes of corporeal maladies and unrest. This series consists of vessels that have been physically altered in a manner visually descriptive of feelings that those suffering from illness often experience, either literally or psychologically, such as segmentation, compartmentalization, and reflection.
